How Tidaq works

Tidaq shows you the price history of luxury hotels, so you know whether a price is good right now. Here is where the numbers come from and where their limits are.

Where the prices come from

Every day we get the prices from a price comparison service that bundles the offers of several booking sites and the hotels. We don't read booking sites ourselves and we never book.

What we check every day

  • For every hotel, the price of each single night in the next 270 days, for 2 adults, on every booking site.
  • On top of that, real stays with fixed dates, for example Friday to Sunday. They show us whether the single nights add up to the real price.
  • All prices in euros, as the total the booking site reports.

How a stay's price history is built

For your dates we add up the nights on the same booking site. We never mix sites across nights, because you couldn't book it that way. For each day we show the cheapest such total.

At some hotels, single nights together often cost something different from a whole stay. We measure this every day: if over 7 days the sum is off by more than 5 % on median or is too rarely close to the real price, we only show real checks of your exact dates for that hotel.

When a price is good

We compare today's price with the last 60 days. You get a verdict once we have 7 days of prices.

  • Near the low: at most 2 % above the lowest price, or among the cheapest 10 % of days.
  • Good price: among the cheapest 35 % of days.
  • Expensive right now: among the most expensive 25 % of days.
  • Otherwise: normal.

Price accuracy and checkout tests

We go through booking sites up to the last page before payment and compare the price there with the listed price. We never book and never enter personal data. If the checkout price is at most 1 % above the listed one, the site passes the test. From this we calculate a price accuracy score from 0 to 100. Below 5 tests we show no score.

Limits

  • Prices often change several times a day. We show the state of our latest check.
  • Room type, board and cancellation terms can differ between sites. We always show the cheapest offer.
  • A local city tax is often not included.
  • A good price today doesn't mean it can't drop further tomorrow.
